The Provosts have three children aged from 17 to 23 and the family divides its time between Brisbane and a home in Noosa. The Provosts moved to Brisbane from a large property at Stanford – a semi-rural area about 20km from the CBD – where Rhonda still has a business. They also have a restaurant and bed-and-breakfast business in Noosa which Graeme runs. The kids love the apartment life: “My daughter is 21 and she likes to go out so she doesn’t have to worry about driving home. It’s about 200m from Park Road Milton which is a very trendy area – lots of restaurants cafes and dress shops and things. ” Rhonda appreciates the sense of security the apartment gives. ne of the reasons the Provosts chose to buy in Milton on the northern side of the river along from the CBD was the height restrictions imposed on blocks in the area… Home to architects and developers Alex and Lynette and their two children the apartment was developed and designed by the de la Vegas and is one of two in the 1924 Spanish Mission building. The couple works from home in a rooftop pavilion with its own kitchenette and bathroom. “We like to work from home” says Lynette “because we work really long hours. We used to work in the city and we had to pack up there and come back home unpack and do more work at home. We’re total workaholics but we like it. The kids have their own workspace so in the afternoon they sit there and do their work and we do ours. ” n the floor below there are five bedrooms seven bathrooms an expansive living room and dining space a kitchen as big as some studio apartments a gym and media room.

And more room for retailers and less wasted space. Town Planner Jon Reiner and Nathan Kelly a senior planner with Massachusetts-based Horsley Witten Group shared their vision with two dozen Post Road home and business owners at a breakfast this week sponsored by the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. Redevelopment is aimed at two growth centers: A northern section that includes a mobile home park and the entrance to the Quonset Business Park; and a southern portion that is home to Reynolds Farm and Children’s Learning Express. Kelly said creating new zoning regulations should encourage — not force — a change in the direction of new developments. He suggested bringing buildings closer to the sidewalks with parking in back; creating a “café zone” of up to 24 feet where businesses could set up outdoor tables; a five-foot sidewalk and two- to three-foot buffers with trees and shrubbery. Reiner will present some of the first infrastructure-related proposals at the next Town Council meeting.
