is selling off another piece of its business to focus solely on its patent licensing division the company said as it released its fourth-quarter results. The ttawa-based company said it has decided to put its semiconductor intellectual property (IP) business on the chopping block just a few months after completing the $17. 8-million sale of its test equipment systems division to Teradyne Inc. The sale will affect approximately 20 employees a company spokesperson said although it isn’t a given that these employees will lose their jobs since their specialized design work may be used by the business’s new buyer… The semiconductor IP division mostly designs and licenses semiconductor IP circuit blocks for fabless semiconductor companies which CE John Lindgren said earlier was still a “hard” form of intellectual property. The company has now shifted its focus to concentrate solely on its lucrative intellectual property rights and patent licensing business rather than the sort of technology licensing dealt with in its semiconductor IP segment in the style of pure patent licensing companies such as Wi-LAN Inc. Mosaid will also work on memory technology research and development specifically to generate strong patents. It’s been a busy few months for Mosaid which in April announced that it was replacing 12-year veteran George Cwynar with Mr. Lindgren as chief executive officer besides also replacing its chief financial officer and chairman. Meanwhile the company posted a 24. 5-per-cent jump in fourth-quarter revenues from continuing operations to $12.

Behind it is Tom Stern 51author of CE Dad: How to Avoid Getting Fired by Your Family. The book writtenwith a lot of humour was released in April. Its 30 minutes animated TV showwill soon run on business channels even as Stern gets invited for primetime TVshows. Stern comes with rich credentials to look at the issue ?his father Alfred R Stern driven and serious ? was a powerful CE and apioneer in the US cable television industry in the 1960s. And Stern senior ranthe house with the same authority with which he ran his company unable toconnect with his son in a fatherly way ? the core of what CE Dad is allabout. Stern earned his spurs as a CE of a recruitment firmslogging hours making millions and finally waking up one day to realise that hewas hurtling down the same path that his father tread when he was growingup. Now he is a ?recovering success addict? helping theword spread around… Much of the world is still run by men. And manyhave this exaggerated sense of priority and control ? they always want tobe the best be in charge get a priority status are sure they are right andthat they know it all. They want to set the agenda ? at work and even athome. This often leads to passive aggressive control they want to wield evenwhen they are not doing stuff athome. Is this a gender thing ?only about CE dads and not moms? You don?t have to be aCE or a man to suffer from CE Daddism. I have used it only as a symbol. Manywomen who have risen to the top despite odds are work obsessed very rigid andagenda-driven.
