The average seller spends less than 10 hours a week focused on his or her business. Steer clear of any promise of big bucks or fast cash with minimal effort; that doesn’t exist in direct sales… If you’re very shy and introverted ? if you’re not outgoing or willing to hustle ? then any form of sales probably isn’t right for you. Unlike working in a retail store where customers walk in with direct sales you’re on your own ? you must find your customers. So a driven motivated friendly person who wouldn’t be shy about asking her friends to consider buying her line and who isn’t shy about chatting up strangers is needed. What should I sell? Pick a product line that you are personally passionate about. If you can’t see yourself using the products or giving the products as gifts stay away.

Infosys chief operating officer SD Shibulal told ETin an exclusive interview after the company?s first-quarter results. So far Infosys has been in the Indian market only for itscore-banking product Finacle and former CE Nandan Nilekani had statedrecently that the decision to stay focussed on the high margin internationalsoftware business was strategic one it planned to continue with. Among thereasons the company had cited for not entering domestic market were ?robust global demand for IT services and the not very attractive margins forIndian IT services. The taxes on domestic IT revenue was perceived as anadditional disincentive… ?The first quarter of the fiscal companies typically take a hit becauseof the salary hikes and visa costs? said Harit Shah an analyst withAngel Broking. However Infosys has managed to show a 1% increase inrevenue productivity in June 2007 quarter and Mr Shibulal said the company wouldmanage its portfolio of services and leverage services such as packageimplementation testing and consulting that command higher rates. Interestinglythe company?s consulting business has shown a substantial growthincreasing to 4. 9% of its revenues or Rs 184 crore in June 2007 quarter from4. 3% of its revenues in the March 2007 quarter. The company doubled(from four to eight) the number of its $80 million clients from the lastquarter to June 2007 quarter Mr Shibulal said. ne of the consulting deals thatit won is an assignment from an audit firm for transforming its audit managingprocess he said declining to reveal the value.
