Nation Multimedia – Nov 27, 2007
"I had some connection with people in the industry and they wanted someone to market their products. Initially I thought of becoming their employee. But after doing it for a while it didn't quite work out and hence I started Asiasoft. "Due to the economic situation at the time I had no competitor because everyone was in bad shape. "Pramoth soon hit the jackpot. The Ragnarok game he brought to Thailand became an overnight sensation. In the third and fourth years after its inception Asiasoft launched three online games… In the fifth and sixth years the firm introduced four more games three of which received a warm welcome from the market. "You may say our success rate has historically been 50:50. But in the entertainment business there is the so-called 80:20 formula which means if you have 20-per-cent success that's fine. We're in a high-risk high-return business" he said. The risk perhaps has not been too high. Pramoth said he has never suffered a loss even though revenue and profits have fluctuated each year depending on whether a new game was introduced and how successful it was. Awaiting approval from the stock-exchange authorities Asiasoft started its domestic roadshow to institutional investors last Friday and begins its foreign roadshow today to introduce the company to investors in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Survey: A quarter of US workers telecommute regularly
Washington Post – Nov 27, 2007
Conversely there is a very low percentage of people who take advantage of their companies. “Amble knows this all too well. He recalled taking over a department and subsequently learning one work-at-home employee had two other jobs a revelation that traveled fast. “That one example went through the organization like wildfire” he said. Jim Bird founder and CE of WorkLifeBalance. com a training and support company based in Atlanta said telecommuting requires “the right mindset and the right skill set. Either you can’t get work done or you never stop working and it consumes you… “Even if you don’t have a telecommute program your people are working at home” Bird added. “They’re answering those e-mails at 10 o’ clock they’re working on the weekend. “Bird said companies should recognize the business value of off-site employees and suggested this has already been widely put to the test. “When we’re outsourcing technology jobs 10000 miles away we certainly should do it 10 minutes down the road” he said. The study was conducted bythe polling company inc. and sampled 600 adults who are either working now or plan to within three years. The firm conducted additional interviews with 100 small-business owners.

” It was an observation from the “outside” based on my many years as CE. Today after 12 months as mayor I am more convinced than ever that this is true. ur city like a business must adopt a more financially sustainable model. We are asked to assume costs for services that should be paid for by the province and the federal government should play a greater role in supporting cities… ur city must adopt this new culture. My personal definition of “a business-like manner” is the transformation of how we can free staff from the administrative burden and reinvest the productivity savings into maintaining our competitiveness as we strive for being the best place to live work and play in Canada. Finally as we enter the 2008 budget deliberations I plan to work with my council colleagues and senior management in an effort to change the debate to address a third option – not service cuts not tax increases – but internal efficiencies at city hall with reductions in our administrative overhead. As business owners I urge you to call on council to take up this challenge.

Arkansas initially had a Do Not Call list that no longer exists. When the FTC came up with the federal list “we merged our list with theirs” says Gabe Holmstrom spokesman for the state attorney general’s office. The Do Not Call list does not cover business phones (unless you work from home using your home phone number ) and it doesn’t stop people with whom you have done business in the last 18 months from calling. It also doesn’t stop phone calls from nonprofits charities and politicians. Speaking of charities every time you make a charitable donation it seems to astronomically multiply the number of requests you get by phone or by mail. Find and check the box on your donation form that indicates you don’t want the charity to share or sell your information. If there is no box attach a note with your donation with some variation on “Please do not sell rent trade or lease my personal information.

About 174 million devices excluding PCs were sold in 2006 and that number is expected to reach 235 million in 2007 according to research firm iSuppli. But iSuppli analyst Steve Rago said that Gigle is not alone in the space. Intellon CopperGate and Entropic are also working on home-networking technology using existing wiring for communication although only Gigle is aiming to have a chip that can communicate over any wire type. In the long term said Mr. Rago what will differentiate one company from another is the reliability and speed of its technology. But Kent Godfrey senior partner with Pond Ventures which has invested in Gigle said that Gigle?s ability to work over any wire will make it especially attractive to telecommunications operators. perators he said would be able to supply one box that provides phone internet cable and HDTV to an entire house without new wires.

That could be a mistake. The deduction can save you a lot of money if you’re willing to plan carefully and keep the right records. If you’re single and self-employed with a taxable income of $60000 you’re in the 25% tax bracket. With the self-employment tax at 15… ne bill you can’t deduct entirely is your first phone line because it’s considered personal. But you can track your business calls and deduct that amount. You’ll need to file. If you’re unsure whether the deduction is worth it for you you might take a look at that form and its instructions to get a sense of what it requires.
