(AP) A man shot during a 2005 confrontation withMinot police is awaiting sentencing for violating conditions of hisprobation. Douglas Bell who now lives in Jamestown was shot by Minotofficers during a fight outside a Minot home in July 2005. He facedassault and attempted assault charges but was found not criminallyresponsible because of diminished mental capacity. Judge Douglas Mattson issued a warrant for Bell’s arrest thisyear after he missed three consecutive appointments with hisprobation officer in late April and early May. In court Monday Mattson set bail at $2000 on condition thatBell follow treatment recommendations. He will be sentenced afteran evaluation at the South Central Human Services agency inJamestown.

Like many of us my friend (who understandably doesn’t want to be named because she is somewhat embarrassed about this) is worried about finances and was therefore receptive when she came across an article online in The “Miami Gazette” about opportunities to work at home. She doesn’t even remember how it popped up on her computer.

The company was sued last year by consumers who complained that some Windows XP PCs sold as “Vista Capable” prior to Vista’s launch in January 2007 were anything but. Guggenheimer said Microsoft plans to release the Windows 7 code to manufacturers in the second half of July. Microsoft will ship several versions of Windows 7 including Starter Edition Home Premium Professional Enterprise and for emerging markets only Home Basic. Microsoft is hoping that the Windows 7 operating system helps it recover from the Vista debacle. Vista failed to catch on with mainstream computer users and businesses have shunned it outright. Windows 7 is said to be considerably lighter and easier to use than its predecessor. It also includes slick new features such as built-in support for touch screens and tools that improve day-to-day tasks such as desktops searches and PC-to-PC.
